Moroccan Sahara is a summary of the deserts of the world. The way will lead us on reg's trays and in the path of erg. Sometimes African savannah and afterwards semi mountainous desert. A variety of landscapes all in one day. We shall discover villages of this northern zone of Sahara, with their houses among the oases, their way of life around the well, destitution of the existence and yet always a smile.

Initiation to piloting in sand

To get a 4x4 vehicle into sand dunes requires a preparation of the vehicle and giving the pilot basic rules on this type of driving. Briefing then exercises. Sand and dunes are not unbridgeable an accurate attention and respect of the technical rules of driving by the pilot allows us to go almost everywhere.

Discover, learn and move in dunes is fulfilling. Being able to say: » I made it...” driving a 4X4 safely with useful all ground exercises and also on day to day roads.

Then, in the desert to “know how” sometimes becomes an obligation ; like crossing Oued Rerhis, where you have to drive into sand or else give up…

Compulsory crossing, this large dry and sandy oued has to be crossed if the journey has to end at the bivouac in the evening.

Crossing of Lake Maider : this immense dry lake enables to imagine what life was like when filled with water. A very rolling way often surprising by its landscapes of mountains shaping the banks of this former lake.

To the Gorges of Dades and the track of the Rose Valley . The Valley of Dades is clamped between the jbel Sarho and the massif of the Height-atlas, the oued Dades winds in a dry and desert landscape to manage and provide a series of oasis.
Arrivée à Ouarzazate

This wonderful ksar (strengthened village) set at the foothill of the High Atlas, is classified UNESCO world heritage . The towers of its kasbah are reflected in the water of Oued Mellah where women wash their linen: Idyllic image. In order to reach it, it is necessary to cross the oued on a mule either to find a watch passage . We attend then a magnificent entertainment. We discover the ksar, real heap of carved towers leaned on the mountain. Bare walls, uneven ground, earth ovens for bread cooking: The village almost inhabited, remained motionless through time. Kasbahs with stony foundations set thick walls flanked by four towers at each angle, bounding them. Walls made of rammed earth isolate from heat and cold. The center of the house is a patio, real well of light.

Ksar of Aït-Benhaddou was built as many others, by nomads' families whom decided to settle. Houses are high with solid walls to face bad weather and enemies. Aït-Benhaddou inspired the film-makers who shot several historical movies among which, Sodom and Gomorrah and Lawrence of Arabia.

Departure by convoy to Marrakesh

190 km stage between South and North of the Atlas. Along one of the most beautiful road of Morocco , over the landscapes of the high atlas, you will enjoy the surprising vision of the contrast between the colours of the mountainous massifs.

«THE RALLY PHOTO " makes a team challenge allowing in an extremely playful way, to discover the souks.

Participants will be divided in teams each called by the name of a Moroccan city: Meknès, Fes , Essaouira, etc.

Each team will be given a Polaroid and a photo album to collect answers as well as 100 Dh in cash (approximately 10€). The album will contain: the team's name, a double page with explanations on the rules of this challenge, followed by a dozen of pages holding a scenario presented as a title under each empty space where pictures will have to be stuck.

During the rally teams will have to solve riddles to obtain clues to discover the next stage.

At each stage, the team will also have to answer questions relative to Morocco and to Marrakesh .

At the last stage, every team will be graded according to its speed, the relevance of the answers , creativity and humour of the pictures and the amount of money spent.
